STOP the inner Critic from controlling your life!

“I’d like to (fill in what you’d like to do), BUT (fill in the reasons why you don’t do it).
When this is NOT a sham (we really don’t want to do what we say we’d like to do), this sentence structure reveals a split in the mind: The LEFT is the part that wants to do it. The RIGHT has all kinds of logic, “shoulds” and “have tos” on its side to stop the LEFT side.
So what does this produce in us? Sadness? Resignation? A strong feeling of obligation or guilt? Depression? A feeling of hopelessness? And how much of our lives do we LIVE in this place because the right side (the Inner Critic) wins and we feel compelled to do what it says?
THIS is how the Inner Critic operates! This is what keeps us confined, infantile, contracted! There are ways out of this place – ways to effectively deal with and understand this controlling part of the mind.
Join us September 5 – 7 for “Freedom to Be Yourself: Transforming the Inner Critic into Inner Peace!” It is a weekend workshop at the World of Meditation Center in Seattle. For all the details, go to http://bit.ly/1jqB7L6 and STOP the inner Critic from controlling your life! (And save $100 with the amazing early bird offer!)

What is it about CHANGE?

Someone once said, “Change is good. You go first!”
What interests me about change is how often I resistance it.
These days the resistance becomes a reminder to stop, take a deep breath, and inquire into what is happening. More often than not, I find the resistance to be a knee-jerk reaction. And the magic is, once I stop and inquire into it, I am able to accept it – and even INVITE IT!
This acceptance is transformational! And it is a gift from the beyond…that I am sure is available to anyone willing to inquire and be present with the change.

Transformational Change or Extinction?

It is pretty clear to me that the shift towards the New Man and the New Age requires us to go to the edge of what we DON’T want so that the choice is either transformational change or extinction (sannyas or suicide)!

After all, can you imagine any of our present politicians and civic leaders having a significant shift and effectively dealing with: global warming, petroleum, coal and nuclear power use, population control, pollution and depletion of fresh water aquifers, wars and the military industrial complex, unsustainable depletion of sea life and other irreplaceable resources, use of sweat shops, diminishing air quality, destruction of the old growth and rain forests, exorbitant cost of health care, sex trafficking, and the economic and social injustice that exists for minorities, women and the other 99% of us?

And as we move closer to the edge, I keep remembering to meditate, connect with fellow travelers on the path of discovery, and listen to the mystics, who know ALL about the edge! Together we can create what Osho has called a Noah’s Ark of Consciousness.

Transformational change or Extinction?

It is pretty clear to me that the shift towards the New Man and the Age of Aquarius requires us to go to the edge of what we DON’T want so that the choice is either transformational change or extinction (sannyas or suicide)! Here is something that has been treated like a footnote, but certainly jells with the edge getting much closer!
And as we move closer, I keep remembering to meditate, connect with fellow travelers on the path of discovery, and listen to the mystics, who know ALL about the edge! Love…

Changing Fear to Awareness

I heard Osho say, “Never act out of fear.”
This has been a constant reminder to me to stop…and observe whether I am acting out of fear. It doesn’t mean that I never act out of fear. What does happen is that in the stopping, I get a chance to experience the fear. And that moment gives me a space to shift, if it’s possible. Sometimes it’s not possible….
But there have been many times when just catching the fear – and how it penetrates the choices – has transformed the moment from fearfulness to awareness.
Why not give it a try? Just start with Osho’s statement and see where it takes you!
